dont no if the garage who are Vw specialist don’t no what there on about or VanNostics don’t no what there on about!

I have a Vw jiggling multifunction steering wheel that I would like fitted so the buttons on the wheel light up when headlights are on and if possible the volume and telephone buttons working as well, pics attached of the loom VanNostics sent me apparently no where for it to attach and the steering wheel with the connecting.

All help welcome

MFSW wiring pictures

you need the correct buttons/modules/coding/slip ring . . . for it all to work.

the buttons connect to the modules and wiring loom on the rear of the airbag...

this the connects to the slip ring via the yellow plug that is on the back of the MFSW.

The slip ring then connects to the BCM with power and data wires.

so you need all of the above to get that working.

The cable with plugs on both ends is the one that links the steering wheel plug to the BCM
The other wire connects to the same steering wheel plug and takes an illumination feed into the buttons

Yes that’s correct, if you don’t currently have MFSW you will need the two wires installed along with the correct steering wheel/airbag wiring loom and the correct buttons to go with it
The wheel pictured above looks like it has come from something that had ACC fitted so doubt you will get it fully working but if the buttons came from a T6 then there’s a chance the basic buttons will work ?

All i want it to do is light up when the headlights are on, of the basic buttons work that would be a bonus spent £60 for the garage to basically tell me the loom i have doesn’t fit the wheel, I’m not at all tech minded so don’t really no what to do next or what I need!

Where did you get the wheel from ?
It may not be the right one or not compatible with your van, only buttons from a T6 will work in a T6

That’s good news then, your only issue will be the fact it’s has cruise control buttons (ACC) on the wheel as these will not work but hopefully will allow the volume and other ‘basic’ buttons to work

The yellow and black wires in picture are they actually for anything the garage could find any where for them to fit

Not sure if you've spelled it wrong or if it's a different place you're talking about, but if it's Vagnostics I can assure you Matt does know what he's talking about. If it's doable for you I'd go there and let him fit it, he can do this sort of thing in his sleep

It is Matt yes, where is he as I’m in Bath ? Hopefully with the pics I’ve sent him he will send me correct stuff!

You are missing the MFSW wiring loom, it connects from the plugs you have pictured above (along with the airbag/horn) and connects to the slip ring connector it the top of the steering column
The two wires further up don’t connect to the wheel they connect to the back of the slip ring connector and run back into the dash

When you mean horn/airbag I guess that’s the horn cover and air bag currently on the current wheel? So all I need is the MFSW wiring loom to go with the yellow and black wires and some who knows what there doing

You will need a new loom from the slip ring connector to the airbag and steering wheel buttons. It will look something like this

The big yellow connector goes into the slip ring, the small yellow is the airbag and the black one plugs into the bottoms here

The white plug holes are not used unless you have DSG paddles.

The repair wires you have go from the slip ring to the BCM under the dash.
