CTEK behaviour

I have had a CTEK 250 fitted to my camper for the past 18 months and it is working exactly as it should with the expected indicator lights etc.
However I am now a bit confused. I have fitted a battery optimiser to the Starter battery and when I switch it on the CTEK indicates that it is charging the Leisure battery (despite the ignition being switched off)and a check of the voltage confirms this to be the case. However I have correctly connected the ignition switched live cable, and when the optimiser is not connected it works exactly as it should. Am I missing a feature of the CTEK that is allowing this to happen?

That's normal.. we call it auto VSR feature..

Assuming you are refering to a battery charger being connected to the Starter battery.

The ctek is detecting the higher starter voltage and switches on.

The IGN feed is just to enable it to work with a lower starter battery voltage.

More.
