Ctec charger and dash 12 socket

Looking for a bit of advice and could not find on the search.

I use my ctek charger to charge the van battery and normally connect to battery positive and earth.

I have a 12v connection which i bought before for the charger so I could make it easy for charging my car so I can plug this in to a 12v socket to save messing

It looks to me as if the top of dash 12v on my T6 highlife is permanent live so is there any reason why this would not work to charge battery.

Thanks in advance.

thats fine: (if you have a factory Leisure battery ? you may have 2x sockets)

if you have the factory second battery, one of the cig sockets is fed from that. Can't remember off hand whether its the top one or the dash one. Point being, if you have this setup, you will be charging the aux battery, not the main.

Top socket is fed from Factory Leisure battery install (under seat) (fuse under seat too)

Have a look at the Battery Monitoring thread as well . . . . . to keep any eye on whats going on.

Combined with the renogy dcc30s, when I charge my van battery from my ctek charger the renogy charges the leisure battery at the same time. Is there a disadvantage to using this method or should I connected directly to the leisure battery to charge it?

Ah so on the back of this i have 2 12 v sockets and am i right in thinking that the 12v dash one is going to charge the leisure battery under seat and not then main van battery.

That’s not what I want as the leisure battery has its own charger which is solar and i can use the 13 pin on it too

It’s the main van battery I want to charge and just thought that if the 12v were live to it I would not need to hook up the connections.

Think I have that wrong.

I don’t have a factory leisure battery, so can use both sockets, but anyway I always use the lower dash 12v socket to keep my starter topped up.

if you have OEM Factory Leisure battery,

then top socket is Leisure battery, & Lower socket is starter battery.

**

If you haven't got Factory Leisure battery then both sockets will be starter battery.

its easy to see what's what with a battery monitor, one on the starter battery and one on the Leisure battery. . . (voltmeter)

have a look at the BM2 Bluetooth battery monitor that are very popular. .
