Hi All, searching for our dream…
Given up trying to find a fully converted bud with the spec we like, reasonable mileage and right money (which I understand is the current climate…

So we’ve decided to hunt for the right base vehicle… and then do the conversion over time.

That said, a kombi whilst not completely an economical option for a base van, because second row seats will eventually go, but it would absolutely allow us to use it as a camper in the interim..

So spec which we are looking for is SWB, DSG, 150 or 204bhp, t30/32, high line and then ideally with heated screens, p folding mirrors, heated seats…. (I know quite a bit desired)

So, which would you go for of these two??

2019, 7k miles, 150bhp, t30, dsg, h-line, heated screens, lined, p folding mirrors. Captain seats. Rev cam and sensors. Van with side windows light goods vehicle so I’m guessing a van that’s had seats added.

Or

2017 204bhp, sport line kombi, DSG, 51k miles, leather, night heater, bed, swivel front twin seats, heated screens, lined etc, sport line spec.

Both about the same money…….

Any thoughts ????

Any suggestions????

Minds frazzled with such a fluctuating market….

I’d go for the younger van…..be wary of buying a van with added extras ( unless it’s factory fitted ) as latter when you do convert you’d be less likely to find problems like vents/cables in wrong places….plus being a project van you can choose your own internal colours and it’s easier to soundproof a bare van…Happy hunting :)

ps…oh and don’t forget Factory LED’s are a must have

I tend to agree with all of the above comments, I wonder what the story is with the 2019 van, that's very low mileage for a 2, possibly nearly 3 year old van.

FWIW, I agree that the newer van is the way to go - you will also have a near blank canvas for your conversion. @VanDamMan is entitled to his opinion about LEDs but I would have simply said don’t ever buy anything with H4s - H7s are good enough though.

I can see the 2019 doesn’t have led’s but how do I know if h4 or h7s??

I absolutely wouldn't let H4s be a deal-breaker if the rest of the van is good. Less than £200 and a couple of hours work to upgrade it to H7s.

Yes appears to be, with red black leather int, no offence to sport line owners but the red/black leather is a bit like marmite to me and I can’t say Im a lover… lol
Would explain the price difference
1: it’s a genuine factory kombi
2: sport line is premium van with most upgrades already fitted I would of thought
