Hi there, I have a leak on my T6 2.0 102bhp engine, I looked underneath and it’s coming from the crank case oil seal, also I had my cam belt and water pump done (year and half ago) does any one know a good Vw specialist garage in and around Cardiff area please

The sump is a silicone seal.

The crankshaft is a bearing type seal .

Have a look at my post.

Post some pics of your leak to see where is coming from.

Anyone got any good news regarding repair cost for the seal replacement, I went in yesterday for the stealer to check pedal travel after a DMF replacement under all in warranty and they did a health check, among the usual tyre replacement (4mm tread) and all wipers required they have found 2 rear springs broken, 1 front damper leaking and crank seal leaking. The van has Done 37k and everything is classed as wear and tear except the damper which they will replace under the all in warranty. Anyone think there should be some argument to be had with VW (and how). The van rarely has weight in it, and 37k seems ridiculous for a crank seal. Van has full vwsh and Cam belt and water pump 9 months ago.

It seems a bit contradictory to say the damper is covered by warranty but not the crank seal. If anything I'd expect that to be the other way around. I'd be asking them to explain which section of the warranty exclusions the seal falls under. A few users here have had that seal replaced under warranty.

Yes, I agree. I'm not sure if anyone has had the seal done under the all in policy or the original warranty, seals are listed as an exclusion on the all in policy but my argument would be a change in design admits it isn't fit for purpose and a £980 charge to change it is unreasonable every 35k miles if this is wear and tear.
