Hi Guys
Still have a problem with the battery going flat over night. Its getting a bit embarrassing when I pull up to a job and flip the bonnet to disconnect the battery !!!
Anyway had a bit of spare time today and the drain is 0.3 amps, I have pulled some fuses to isolate the problem and if I pull No 27 & 28 out of the engine fuse box it goes to 0.04 which I assume will be ok ????
2710 AContinued coolant circulation pump (diesel Euro 5)
Charge air cooling pump (diesel Euro 6)
Pump for exhaust gas recirculation cooler (diesel Euro 6)
2815 AControl unit for sensor electronics (diesel Euro 6)
Particulate sensor (diesel Euro 6)
Control unit for NOx sender (diesel Euro 6)
NOx sender (diesel Euro 6)

I have no codes or light on, can anybody assist with a possible cause ? if not then I can just install 2x delay relays to disconnect after 10 minutes but would like to get to the cause of the issue and not just mask it !!!!
Thanks in advance (Just incase anyone responds) !!!!!!!!

Actually its not, its the Charge air cooling pump or the EGR cooler pump for fuse 27 as its a Euro 6

T6 OR 6.1
What model year
Any aftermarket Adons?
please post a pic of your battery.

Hi Deaky
For some reason I always forget to mention details about the van !!!! Its a 2018 T6
Adons: MFSW with CCS, Parking sensors kit from Vagcom
The other alterations won't count, wheels, lowered, bumpers etc

what is the current after the vans been locked for 15 minutes?

and a pic of the pump that stays running 24/7 please

if you join as a VIP you can get access to all the fuse charts, schematics and maintenance docs. . .

0.3 A but as mmi has noted it’s not for DC , I have ordered one for DC should be with me tomorrow so will re check and get back to you

Hi Dellmassive, yes It has been pointed out to me but I have all the diagrams and charts on my lapto. I have been through quite a bit of the wire flow diagrams and repar files but nothing specific to my issue. To be honest I get a bit lost with 7 or 8 windows open trying to track down the problem !!!

On your diags on your laptop.

What are the pumps identified as? What the ID? ( Ie G7, EV256, etc etc)

I'll see if that tally's up from our side.

Also what engine has it got? Engine code or PS/HP?

V188 Charge air cooling pump
V400 Pump for exhaust gas recirculation cooler

Engine code is CXHA 150 bhp DSG

Awesome,

I'll check the diags shortly.

But from memory those pumps are driven from the engine ECU.

Has the engine been mapped?

Do you have access to VCDS or other?

so both pumps are fed from the same fuse.

have the same ground,

and are PWM controlled from the Engine computer.

+++++++++++++

as a temp measure you should be able to pull fuse SB27 10A to kill power for the pumps (instead of removing the battery terminals)

try that and get back to us.

+++++++++++++

next job is to see why the ECM is running the pumps.

well get some scan data to compare engine and external air temps.

just seen this:

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

1b - coolant pump relay - j235,

looking that up it runs the v51 - Continued coolant circulation pump

+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

also 7b - coolant shut off valve relay -- j541 -- that runs n422?

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

also 8a - j496 - additional coolant pump relay - that runs v55?

i dont think they are connected to your issue

Thanks for the update
I have pulled the fuse for the pumps and although the pumps stop there is still something else draining the battery, although my meter isn’t correct, I got a lower drain after pulling out fuse No 27 & 28 which is how I left it overnight, now the battery isn’t just flat it’s completely dead !!!
