Connecting M8 Eyelets To Leisure Battery

I have a Victron 10A smart battery charger and plenty extensions leads and connectors etc from my previous van. I'm wanting to reconnect this into my leisure battery. I don't really mess with stuff once it's in place so don't want to go blindly in disconnecting stuff if I'm going to blow a fuse. The van is still really the converters idea if you know what I mean as I'm finding out stuff as I go along - plumbing, electrics and gas runs etc.
So to connect this
M6/M8 eyelet connector - Victron Energy
to the leisure battery what do I do?
Disconnect negative first then positive and connect the eyelets to the respective positive/negative lead terminal connectors before slipping those leads back over the posts, positive then negative?

I'd then have the connector lying through a hole above the battery compartment ready to connect the charger to when required, charger into 240v on hookup, Sargent recharger fuse removed to take that out the equation.

Anything else to consider?
