Composition Colour Or Composition Media Upgrade

I am looking to place an order for a T6 Highline for conversion into a camper. I am planing to add a rear camera along with front & rear sensors.

I am confused by the options regarding the stereo. Is the no-cost option of the Composition colour radio with 5" touchscreen a reasonable system, or should is it worth paying the extra £432 to upgrade to the 6.33" Composition Media system

Replace with an aftermarket head unit with a decent size display and better connectivity/sat nav

The screen on the base unit is laughably small and the cost of the upgrade is extortionate.

I did just that and decided to go with an aftermarket Alpine X902 unit. I find it quite irritating though, with lots of 'quirks' that I sometimes wish I just went with a standard VW sat nav unit with app connect. It has a lovely big screen, but the controls are fiddly, it wanders off course sometimes (but only when I am actually really needing sat nav!). I keep intending to post a review but havent had a chance. I work in IT, and a bit of a techie, along with being a person who enjoys audio, but I do find the unit frustrating.

I generally use carplay on my unit, and find the apple carplay much better than the sat nav on the alpine.

Not sure if the pioneer is any better - lots of people I'm sure are happy with that.

My van was configured as you are planning from the factory: front/rear sensors + rear camera. The thing that made me to select bigger screen was a lot better screen resolution that comes with bigger screen. However up here the price tag of the upgrade was less than half of yours to ease the decision.

Composition Colour (5") 400x200 pixels.
Composition Media (6.33") 800x480 pixels.

Also with the upgrade comes better touch screen (just my opinion: "touch&feel", resistive vs. capacitive touchscreens).

The Composition Media also pairs two mobile phones simultaneously which I think the "Colour" doesn't do. Makes a difference as I'm carrying two mobile phones, business+private ones.

A few more details in the document The T6 Infotainment & Car-Net SSP-562 pages 5-6.

Hmm that’s interesting, I was getting ever closer to pushing the button on that Alpine, having second thoughts now. I’d be interested in your review if you get chance.

Having had 2 high end 'VW' systems stolen from my skoda superb a few years ago I'm sensitive to how desirable a head unit can be. I just went for the composition colour (instead of the composition audio) to get the extra speakers and because it's a bit nicer to look at. I've added in genuine VW rear camera too but was fitted afterwards by dealer.
I'm using a TomTom for navi for futureproof upgradeability.

432GBP seems steep for an upgrade to composition media in my opinion. I guess you should see what else you could buy for that money instead...

good luck!
