This is NOT a cure, but may help reduce water ingress as a last resort.
I posted this as a suggestion to reduce water dripping inside the van when you open the side door in the rain.
Iam assuming that the water gets in through the opening part of the OEM combi window.
The window may let in water that lands on the sliding glass and runs down. If it does, it probably also lets in some of the water that runs down from above the opening ( the glass above, the door above that and the bodywork up and round to the roof rail channel).
Drying and degreasing the glass just above the sliding pane and putting on a length of this strip as a mini 'gutter' may help?
( My camper has non-VW windows that don't leak).
