Clicking ticking noise

Sometimes when I start the shuttle I get a ticking/clicking sound comping from the back. It’s only started recently and isn’t all the time and only lasts 2-10 seconds then stops and I don’t hear it again?

I’ve managed to track it down to the little compartment that has a cover - as you open the boot looking in, to the right hand side. There is a little space that looks like it should pull open (like the jack on the other side) but is seems solid.

As far as I know, my wife isn’t planning on killing me so I ruled out a bomb.

Any other ideas would be gratefully received.

It might be the rear heater system fan spinning up. Does it happen if you turn the rear fan off and then back on again?

see this thread for what is behind that panel, it’s basically a fan blower unit and heater matrix for the rear compartment.

Question please, on the tailgated version, how do you remove the plastic key clip on the very bottom of the door? The child-lock unit?

I haven’t got the rear heating on (either on the controls in the back or on the dash).

Hi did you get this sorted. My T5 did it. 5.1 didn’t but t6 does it worse than ever!! So annoying
