Caravelle Day Van Conversion

T6 Caravelle - Day Van - Occasional Camper
T6 Pro
Completed (I think) the conversion of our T6 Caravelle to a day van / occasional camper. The rear storage is actually a prototype that made it all the way to production. I built it just to get the measurements as my original plan was to build it out of extruded aluminium (8020). The cost would be too high though so its staying as it is. The framework is bolted to the seat rails (4 bolts on each side) so can be removed although it would be a bit of a faf. All the storage we need for out kit:

A must for me was being able to access the fridge from inside the van. When the bikes are loaded up on the bike rack we cant open the tailgate.

The ARB air compressor is my one of my favourite additions to the van.

With the seats folded down and the tables in place it makes 2 single sleeping areas which are almost completely flat. We just use self inflating mattresses. the tables just clip on using a Mito rail and can be used in the rear kitchen too:

This looks great, nice work.

What model ARB compressor is that? Are you using it for bike tyres? I’ve been looking for a 12V compressor to hard wire in that would be suitable for road and mountain bike tyres.

The one I have is the single one CKMA12

I didn’t have room for the The twin version and it pulls nearly 50AMPS when running.

I also brought the ARB tyre inflation kit

but for bike tyres I needed a Schrader to Presta valve adaptor. I found before the ARB pressure valve would take a reading for the PSI you first need to inflate the tyre a little to depress the presta valve.

Cheer’s.
