Hi all, now the weather is getting around zero, most mornings I can't open the front doors. I am having to open the slider and lean over. They open fine from the inside. Once the outside temp has risen all is fine. I am waiting to be booked in for the bowden cables to be done; I presume this will sort this out? any advice would be helpful!

Cheers will try. The wierd thing is its as if the door handles aren't connected. They are solid and feels like they could break.

Sounds like a good dousing once it's warmed up enough to open the doors with WD40 to displace any moisture would be the first step.

Mine was doing it terribly on the sliding door. Either silicone spray the rubbers or for a longer term fix I got some Sonax gummipfleger rubber care from eBay. It comes in a small shoe-polish bottle with a foam tip.

It is odd, if I open it from the inner handles they both open fine, it's just the outside handles not releasing

I have a tub of silicone grease in my door pocket for this reason. A light wipe with a cloth keeps them supple and not sticking.

I’m not too sure then @Pedro20001 as mine was definitely sticking door rubbers and in the case of the sliding door wouldn’t budge with either inside or outside handle!

I used to get this with the Golf and Passat, only mine wouldn't close. When shutting the door, it would not latch. Some warm water over the outside door handle did the trick... until the next morning.

Possibly a frozen Bowden cable in that case, There was a recall mentioned about that last winter...

It doesn't sound like a sticking seal problem, more a mechanical lock not being able to move issue

I'll chase VW up today, good job i can climb over, if i still had my bulkhead i'd be well stuffed!

If its a T6.1, it'll be what Loz said. I had mine fixed not long before xmas.

Well spoken to vw, booked in for 17th Feb. Hope we don't get any cold weather before then

Definitely Bowden cables. Mine were done 2 weeks ago and perfect since, minus 4 last night and no problem this morning.

There is another recall for this issue - they put a small insulating mat around the lock. Speak to your local dealer.
