CANBUS & WAGO

Morning all,

Has anyone used or have knowledge of Wago (maybe the 221-415) to add more circuits on to the CANBUS?
Just wondering if re-routing a OEM CanHi into one WAGO block and then from the Wago into the OEM block would work and it would give 3 additional connections. (Would also do the same on the CanLo side).

Would also allow the van to be quickly returned back to OEM wiring if required (for warranty etc.) so not leaving any evidence of soldering etc.

Cheers

It shouldn't cause any issues providing the can wires aren't untwisted more than ~5cm. Also, the added can wires will need to be twisted too so both the Hi and Low connections will need to be close.

Your biggest issue is likely to be if you’re adding other CAN nodes on the bus, the termination of the bus will probably no longer be in the right place and this could cause issues. If you keep any additional nodes on short cable runs you should be ok, but something to be aware of.

Cheers @JamesS I'll have to have a look at the PDC/DSG/BCM to establish which is likely to be easiest......
Not sure if people are just using the crimp taps or going for a full on soldered connection

The issue with the wago blocks is that they are not sealed, unless you use some wiska gell to seal them, then you risk the exposed conductors tarnishing/oxidising and causing a future bad connection.

That's a good shout, especially if being used as a Camper.
They also do a range of Gel Boxes but I think they require housing in a secondary box as well so may be a bit too bulky to hide under the dash etc.

Morning All. Can't see how to post a new post so jumping on here... I'm trying to swap over a security light. Old one has wago type connectors which I have never used before ... How do I get wires out? Can't see on YouTube. I've lifted orange fingers but not sure if need to prose grey connector apart?
