Can you put hot pans on the glass sink lid?

This might be a total noob question but...

Is it OK to put a hot pan from the cooker onto the glass sink cover?

@elTorerro Carry a few small dish towels in the van, use them to protect surfaces from heat and scratches.
They are also good to place between hard objects like pans when storing stuff in the lockers on the road.

Is it really not heat resistant glass? Seems a bit of a mad design choice if it’s not, ours is the same glass on the sink cover to the hob cover?

Not that I’m volunteering to try it with a super hot pan…

I wonder if it's because for safety reasons it has to be tempered glass. Can you have heat resistant tempered glass? I have no idea.

All the literature I have seen says heat resisting glass - this is from Dometic website - as @t0mb0 says, mad design if not heat resiting. I would still put something on it but only to stop scratches, a bar mat is cool but we also make choppping boards for our customers if needed.

Cheers

Flush fit with glass lid

Our HBG series gas hobs are fitted perfectly flush with the surrounding worktop, and even offer extra worktop space when its heat-resistant safety glass lid is folded down. For a smarter looking kitchen.

That does make sense, having non heat resistant glass next to a hob would be pretty daft.

I think the answer is a definite maybe but why would you.
Can I put my head in a lions mouth?

The hinges on my Dometic sink rusted after about 2 years, they cost approx 2/3 of the cost of a new sink.
