Campervan: petrolhead or home decor choice?

hoping this doesn't get taken out of context and a bit of a laugh.

In my home the wife generally chooses the decor, colour schemes etc until it becomes functional or technical or involve electronics to which I then help and steer the choice.

The garage however is my area and if I had a shed that would be too, but

Is a campervan a extension of the home to which the wife should choose the decor and colour or for those in a couple is it more the petrolheads choice being the man in my case?

From your above example i would say you control the engine, tyres, steering wheel and maybe some of the dash buttons and she gets everything else
Remember resistance is futile

Definitely control the engine choice haha yes I really need the 204 and a 4motion.

Working on suspension, pop top and rib bed... I can convince her that the functional benefits of some things make it the better selection over the cosmetic choice she would have but struggle at the interior colour.

Just wondered if everyone else had similar discussions / battles

I seem to get the say for the whole van. Unfortunately that means I seem to have to clean the whole thing too.
Wife does bedding, cooking and packing kids clothes, I do the rest including the washing up - harrrumph.

Anything to do with cars and vans I 100% decide however Im lucky in that my mrs has excellent taste in most things including men obviously ha

Haha great responses I don't know who she thinks she is trying to impose her thoughts it's my van, my mobile man cave, I'm paying for it all and will be washing it haha

However... happy wife happy life so she says

Looking at pictures of most conversions, they appear rather dark and bachelor pad to me. Maybe its time to let your wife into the conversation. The California interior is ok, and there are loads of T2 and T25 campers that are beautifully done, inside and out, but what is it with the dark wood and dark carpet everywhere?

Yes lots have acres of dark "wall carpet" which is a bit off putting. We've used normal bright rugs in ours to try and brighten it up a bit; our last Cali with grey seat covers, loads of light grey and black, fitted carpets just looked a bit dull. This one is better.

I take it all back. I've just had to remove half a Magnum from the rear seats. Dark, covers all manner of children's sins.
