New here and to camper conversion . would like to know what people think are essential fitments.will be fitting solar panel ctek charger side windows with opener's maybe diesel heater do I need roof vent etc etc.

Pop top? In my opinion it's not a proper camper unless it's got a pop top roof.
Nice bit of LED mood lighting.
Alloys 18" - 20"
Lowering kit + uprated ARBs
Leather seats.
Decent blinds.
Awning Rail.
Underslung water tank.
Loc8 table
Sink/cooker.

I could go on but it depends how much you've got to spend. Choose a figure and double it! lol.

Thanks for recommendations will try without pop top because it's just for the two of us and sometimes we will stelth camp in cities

We don't have a pop-top, and we just don't see the need for 2 of us.
3 years in and we have never even thought we needed more height inside.
More space overall, yes, but that's another story (and probably a bigger van).

Pete

You're both lucky. My wife sleeps like a starfish and no campervan bed is wide enough for the both of us. One-up-one-down lol.
It's not just the sleeping/standing up benefit of having a poptop though, it's also the fact that you can really cool the van down in hot weather as you can open the front window to capture all the breeze. Respect your reasons for not wanting one though. Courses for horses and all that.

+1 for no pop top ...again just us 2...living space provided by awning/tent. ( short trips air beam sun canopy ) but van has full width bed ...but Ctek works great with mobile solar ...to be honest we paid a lot for a high spec van ...it makes driving enjoyable that and the suspension mods ....The real thing to consider is if you intended to camp on sites that have hookup it may change your conversion needs ..we use £50 500w oil rad to heat van ( it’s tiny ) so no issues with vents and fumes but in summer months don’t need heating ...
But before you start your conversion journey trying basic camping and workout what you really need

We are thinking of rarely using sites with ehu but if we set van up with solar and big agm leisure thought we might be ok.havnt decided on layout yet but bed size is more important than some things.like sound of inflatable awning.

Really like idea of underslung water tank would save room in van, like look of the smev hob/sink insert.

Hi. @Jonner...regarding solar we use 2 panels that are mobile ( @Dellmassive has very good posts on this...sorry can’t link ) with 110 amp agm under the seat...but because we are in arms race with Team LED ( again using @Dellmassive ideas ) made up portable battery box ( 100 amp agm ) that can piggyback via Ctek so now have loads of battery power

You will when you are old enough to suffer with back pain most of the time!

And yes we are looking towards a Crafter or MAN TGE

Go Long Wheel Base if you can get one, you'll love that bit of extra space!

Here are two options, I've used these in four vans...

The above may not fit Euro 6 vans. Has anyone found a way around this?

I’d like to think Autocraft would have adapted their mould by now, otherwise their range will be severely limited if the T6.1 underbody is the same as the T6 Eu6.

Have been watching loads of youtube to get ideas on how to do things.have noticed the price ofanything related to or mentioning VW or transporter seems to be a lot more expensive

Welcome to the deep pockets club :laugh::laugh:

I used to work for a guy who lived in a jacobean mansion and he reckoned the price of anything he wanted done trebled when tradesmen came up the drive.
