Cable connected to drivers seat

I have removed my 2+1 seats to fit captains seats and have found that my original drivers seat has an electrical connection which my new seat doesnt. Does anyone know what its for? I dont have electric seats or heated seats.

Here's a photo of the connector on the seat. The cable runs to the rear and up past the seat belt connector. Not sure where it goes from there

Do you mean the cable that would tell the car that the seat belt is not connected? Why would the new seat not have this? (Its out a T5.1). Also my passenger seats didnt have any electrical connections

Its for the pressure pad to tell if someone is sitting on the seat and the seat belt should be done up. The passenger captains seat does not have it but it should be on the drivers. Doesn't matter greatly if it isn't just means you will not get the seat belt sign on the dash and the wildly annoying acoustic reminder.

Thanks Alan. Just to clarify if I leave the cable detached from the new seat will I get a constant warning or no warning? (Hopefully the latter!)

Never mind I just re-read your post and get it now. I wonder how my new seat doesn't have this. It's a captains seat from a 5.1 and looks brand new

I should be able to get the new seat in on Wednesday and will test drive to hopefully confirm there is no error messages or beeps

It crossed my mind but the seat belt connector is on the correct side and the other seat doesn't have the cable either so it's not from a LHD. As long as I don't get a dash warning or constant beep I'm fine with losing the pressure pad.

Could it be rear captains seats? (Do you get such a thing?)

Double checked the eBay listing and it states they are fronts - "

OK so I realised I wasnt going to be able to sleep tonight from thinking about this so I went down and fitted the new drivers seat to the van there and went for a test drive. Thankfully no dash warnings and no beeps so its all good. Thanks for your help everyone.

Yeah well there's always that. I doubt it though. It's no biggie as the only thing I was worried about was dash warnings or beeps I couldn't sort but there's none

The more I think about it the more I think you are right. I got a brilliant deal on them though and they match perfectly so I'm not too fussed
