Cab 12v Sockets Behaviour To Off Question

Hi,
Done some search, but haven't found a proper answer

What is the behaviour of the 12v / cigarette lighters in the cabin next to gear stick and on top of dashboard
(at least for Transporter, Caravelle might have different behaviour again?)


so when i turn off the engine, they both remain active
is there a timeout? or a voltage cut off?
are they different from one another?
is it configurable (VCDS or Carista)?

both stay live always, not sure about caravelles etc as they have additional power points so may be different (but I suspect they are the same too)

scary... imagine i forget to unplug my dashcam for a few days! ...

i wonder if someone knows how to swap them to ignition/accessory only

thanks, i will have a read. 10 pages though!
i usually have other things plugged in, but take them away (satnav, phones, etc)

@T6 Dave 's post halfway down the first page shows you where to tap off the fusebox to get an ignition switched feed (centre column)
