Hi all

I’ve picked up a dash cam which plugs into the 12v socket on the top of the dash. The instructions say that if the socket is permanently powered you need to turn the camera off. It appears the 12v socket is still providing power after the ignition is turned off. Is this normal or does it turn off after a few minutes? I have visions of forgetting to turn the camera off and draining the battery. Any help would be appreciated

I think the 12v sockets are perm live.

I’ve just fitted one and used a nextbase hard wire kit (from Argos) and picked up 12v from the fuse box below the gear lever. Camera comes on when ign at position 2.

do a search - lots in the archives.

Ah yes - just done one and you’re right there’s loads... now I just need to remove the plug every time I stop. Seems a bit of a faff though
