My regular parking space was'nt available so I parked forwards next to the low fence. Finished work and reversed out, fence was out of view and yes, I put lock on too soon and scraped front bumper.
Question is; when looking for good bodyshop would you have them remove, repair and paint, or repair and paint in situ? I want the best job possible.

There isn't really a right or wrong answer to this question. It depends on the damage caused, but a bodyshop repairing a bumper in situ doesn't mean you aren't getting the 'best job possible' It's pretty common practice for a bodyshop to repair a bumper whilst it's still on the vehicle if it's just a small amount of damage.
The bumpers damaged, you want it putting right, a decent bodyshop will give you the best options
