Bonding awning rails

This weekend I will be fitting Vamoose awning rails to my van , one each side to be precise.
No issue with doing it but I have a question someone will be able to advise hopefully.

I have all the supplied adhesive etc but my van has a Gtechnic ceramic coat and I’m sure I’m going to need to rub it back to ensure a good bond .
What’s best ? Wet & dry 1200 grit is what I’m planning and masking off the outline of the rail. It Will be time consuming but will it be overkill ?

Maybe you should just try using brake clean or panel white to clean the area.

The rails are primarily held on with the self-drill screws.

Then secondary with the bonding adhesive that also acts to waterproof the rail so it turns into a gutter.

I'm not sure if getting the wet and dryer to the body work is a good idea just to fit a remo rail.

Pastor owls don't sit on the van perfectly straight, you will have a slight downward slope at the rear and the slight curve at the front, so trying to sand the area we'll be a night.

Just give it a good chemical clean with brake cleaner or glass cleaner, then follow the install video maybe use masking tape first over the whole area to get your first few holes set and drilled.

The only when you're finally happy remove all the masking tape at the adhesive and then screw in for the final fit.

Thanks @Dellmassive , I think your right the last thing I want to do is bugger the paint work up with sandpaper. Already watched the videos so should be good to go .
