Blue smoke on pull away occasionally

Hi All.. Happy Easter.
Very first time on here so please bear with!
A friend of mine has a 2011 transporter 4 motion . Unfortunately at the moment that’s all the information I’ve on the VW apart from the milage which is 168000.
He says when pulling away from lights etc he can see blue smoke but not all the time & runs sweet as a nut, always serviced on time etc.
Any ideas & help of what the possibilities could be would be very grateful.

I'll have a guess it's a bitdi which is what mine was like. Do all the test and checks first because at that mileage it could be just the turbo ready for a refresh. Get an oil test done to see if there is anything untoward in there and a compression test.
