Bike Rack Depth And Mpg

Hi all, we are looking for a bike rack for our T6. We have searched the forums and have learned a lot but are still confused. The main problem that we have is the length of our garage. We are quite limited and would need to find a bike rack that sticks out as little as possible.
We do not have enough money for a towbar but enough for a VW one.
Is there much difference between the new rack (quasi) and the old style one (Kylie)? Has someone measured how much space there is between the tailgat and the front of the rack?
We understand that the new one is better in terms of functionality and building quality, but in case we need to go with the T5 style one because of the depth, would we be losing much?
Also, do they affect the van’s fuel consumption much?

I've only got a fiamma barn door but they don't stick out far past the bumper. And when folded I know my tow bar will hit something before the bike rack does and the parking sensors are sounding constant before the bike rack touches anything.
As for fuel economy I havnt noticed any difference. As its only saddles and handlebars sticking up. And then the saddles can be dropped down.
