Battery Optimser

Hi Is it safe to use a battery optimiser on a 2018 T6 (The type that you can connect to the battery while it is still fitted to the van)
I was wondering if it would confuse the monitoring as I assume that it could charge the battery beyond the usual 80% and also potentially back drive any electronics in the system.
I have always used one on my other vehicles but am not that familiar with the "smart charging" system fitted to the T6

What is it?

Got a link to the product?

I use one of those to charge the battery on my infrequently used T6 camper. As Dell says, connect the negative to the chassis. Works best if you buy the optional lead which bolts to the van chassis and +ve battery terminal, as it makes attaching/detaching very simple.

there is a sensor that meters out the power in/out of the battery.

connecting a charger NEG direct to the battery bypasses that sensor so the van doesn't recognise the charge,

just use a chassis ground and you are good to go.
