Awning rail fixing

Have ordered an awning rail and am going to fix to the roof bar/gutter fixing points. I want use some extra washers underneath the rail. Can i order these online or are they only available from VW spares. Does anyone have a product/ part number?

You could take the originals off the blanking bolts?

Was going to reuse blanking bolt and washer/seal but wanted to sit rail on another washer/seal to sandwich it between the two to raise it a little to protect bodywork.

Ahh ok that makes sense, I'd just pick some up from a hardware store then. I was going to do the same but the original bolts didn't fit with my rail so I had to use the new ones that came with the rail, don't look as nice so painted them black to match!

You should also put some of the rubber washers below the head of the bolt or you may find you have water leaking into your van.
I would suggest rubber washer (or two if you want to raise it up a bit) then awning rail, then another rubber washer then the bolt.

I have ordered the Bolt on Awning rail from Camper Essentials. Not the cheapest but looked to me to be of a design that would make inserting the Awning cord easier.
