Hi all
Finally got my van after lots of searching, going great but today nearly shit myself with missus and dog in,when doing 35/40 mph
Slams anchors on in mid flow of traffic… not up anyone’s arse don’t know how we didn’t get rear ended 😳
First mot due next week at dealers will ask to check under warranty… anybody else had this experience?

Did you have adaptive cruise control on at the time? My Golf had an issue where it thought it was on the continent and wouldn't let me overtake anyone as it thought I was under cutting. Some users have examples of auto braking when coming off steep driveways or going round a sharp bend.

Yeah - a couple times.
Apart from the usual - when reversing into a space that has leaves on a nearby branch - slams brakes on like you've hit something.

1st time - on dual carriageway doing 65mph with a car right up behind me. It slammed the brakes on for 1/10 of a second (looked in the manual - seems it is a safety feature, so what do i know? Just a driver!) - the driver of the other car and my missus thought I did it deliberately and both of them seems weren't happy judging by the silent treatment/hand signals (you can figure out who did what).
2nd time - coming out of a carpark and turning right onto a main road there happens to be a bus parked about half meter away. The van decided to slam the brakes on in the middle of the road (there was no way I was going to bump into that parked bus). Again, some silent treatment but no hand signals this time.

However, has your front grille been painted or replaced with a prettier looking model?

Yes when I got van it’s had a new de badged grill plus abt front bumper
All has been fine for 3 months and I know I can manually turn it off every time I get in but bit of a pain on short journeys
If I knock the park assist button off will that not do same job ie disabling sensors?

Mine used to do that coming off the drive or when it thought something was closer than it was. Stopped it by turning off manoeuvre braking, which does not default back on. It's in the settings on my infotainment. Still get all the distance warnings stupidly early though.

Don't know about Park Assist but there are a few posts on this forum about sensors playing up when a different grille has been fitted. A quick search will probably lead you in the right direction.
