Auto Head Light / Lower Dash Trim

Hi Guys,

New T6 owner here in the middle of a full conversion. Got a T30 Trendline. I've been making a few upgrades already. One of which has been auto headlights with the switch upgrade. To feed the light sensor through I had to drop out the lower dash plastic trim under the steering wheel as well as the side panel.

Got the side panel back on easy but the lower dash trim is struggling to fit back over the head light switch. Does anyone know if there is a trick / technique to doing this? Any help would be really appreciated as want to avoid snapping the trim.

Thanks

Andy

You should have unplugged the light switch and removed the circular light switch mount (one screw in the rear) when removing the lower panel, with this off it just hooks on the bottom and clicks back in

I unclicked the existing switch (push in and turn) to pull out. Pretty sure I then just slotted the new auto switch into the existing mount. Should I have removed the mount altogether with the screw you mention and then just clipped the trim back in place? Sorry if this seems like a dumb question.

Yes that’s exactly it, the mount overlaps the lower panel, you can get the lower panel out with a tug and it will pop past the mount but getting it back in is not so easy
If you remove the screw and look up inside the mount you will see two small plastic tabs holding it in

Ah ok took it back off and can see the torx screw now thanks. Will take it back off. That bit wasn’t mentioned in the notes.

Now that I’ve removed it and put it back in again the auto feature doesn’t seem to be working and no light icon is showing on the dash. Going to try the original switch in again.
