Apple Watch 5 cellular to VW t6 standard head unit

As title has anyone connect a series 5 Apple Watch to a standard t6 head unit for phone calls or more?
I have just ordered one and wonder if I will need to take my phone to make calls in the van or just use the watch.
This is just Bluetooth not car play any info on this would be helpful even if after market units work.

The watch only connects to an iphone.

That's an interesting one, the cellular version can be used without a phone, but not sure if it would connect to BT stereo. I suppose it may well do as it can certainly connect to bluetooth earphones which use the same protocol, but it would be much less useful than connecting a phone I think. Give it a try and let us know.
