Hi

Perhaps a strange question, but I’m trying to incentivise my son to learn more about VW T6 vans, and as I’m not able to keep pulling mine apart I’ve bought him a full set of T6 internal electrics/wiring, and have been surfing eBay and FB to find unwanted/the cheapest available modules to build his own little test bed. If anyone has any they don’t need - please let me know me know.

I’m by no means an expert, far from it, and I have no idea how successful this will be - or what it’ll cost in the end, but, if it gets him off his phone/xbox for a bit each day, that’s no bad thing; and at the very least, it’s been fun tracing out all the wires, and laying them all out to show what goes to the battery, the steering, the rear - (as I’m learning too so it doubly beneficial)..

If anyone has any old ones / or know where to find them let me know I’m thinking an instrument cluster, and BCM are at the top of the list, but part of the fun too is trying to identify the modules he needs.

The VCDS reports people have been posting on this forum have provided some great resources for identifying modules/parts etc..

Theres an important distinction here between T6 and T6.1 vans/wiring as they are very different, im assuming we are talking about/you have bought parts for T6

The CANBUS gateway is incorporated inside the BCM on this platform so if you are intending to connect a laptop with VCDS etc then that would be required to get everything talking nicely then its really up to you what else you want to connect to the network

You can remove any/all modules from the BCM/gateway installation list if they are not present and leave any that you do have ticked so the gateway communicates with them, TBH im not really sure what you are going to do when you have a couple modules and connect them up, VCDS will show you what it can see but every module will be in full error as it wont be seeing any of the sensors/system components it is designed to control ?

How far are you thinking of going with this ?
If you look at some of the VCDS scans of vans on the forum you will be able to get the part number of each module from the scan and that will give you something to search for on google/ebay and see what you cab find ?

Just reread my post and i hope it doesnt sound too negative that was not my intention
I have doom scrolling children and agree anything to get them up and out is a good thing.
It is an interesting idea and im happy to help out where i can with info and wiring diagrams etc, i will try and keep an eye out for replies but feel free to pm me or tag me in a post here to give me a nudge

Thanks @Pauly,

I’m just trying to ride a wave of interest here, no idea how long it’ll last but at least this is practical , and if we add bits over time, then it means we can keep coming back to it too, even test some stuff out first, and then he can have a go on doing it within the actual van..

Make/Model - Compatibility wise, based on the listing I went for, and from what I can tell from doing a like for like with mine, it looks to be all T6 (so far)🤞

As for help, that would be great, you’ve already helped me with the first part, as I did wonder why 7E0 937 090 was listed in people VCDS reports under both (09) Central Electric and (19) Gateway CAN.. Hence, BCM PQ25 (7E0 937 090) is at the top of the list.
