Anti Smash Film - Recommendations

Hi

I'm looking to get some anti-smash film on the driver and passenger door windows on my T6.1

I'm assuming most tinters would do it but not sure if there is a specific type of film that is better than others. Or of there is a specific thickness of film recommended etc.

We intend to wild camp in Europe rather than campsites so just looking for a little extra piece of mind

If anyone has had it fitted and can make any recommendations I'd be grateful. Will more than likely by passing through most areas in the UK, obviously don't mind a little jaunt out somewhere to get it done

Thanks

If somebody wants to get into your van they will. I only ‘wild camp’ and have done so for months at a time for years without any issues.
If someone needs to extricate you after an accident it might be best not to slow the process down.
I have a cheap dog bowl that I leave under my vans sliding door with a collar & lead on the dash. Thankfully no dog though.

When I read this post, I looked at your profile and expected to see 'From Johannesburg' rather than 'From Leeds'.

I had some film fitted to my front windows in my first T5 many years ago as an extra security measure. I've never bothered since as a friend pointed out, in an accident they would make it very difficult to get out. The products still exist, I'd ask a window tinting company, Cappuccino Tints are in Leeds and very good.

Thanks for that. Will try them. I believe that you can push it out from the inside as the film is on the inside of the glass. So you are spreading the glass particles outwards rather than squashing them against each other which you would be doing from outside. It sort of makes sense in my head :)

Have you actually done much wild (or any other) camping in Europe? I can't help but think that you're worrying over nowt. If I was so worried that I had to start amouring up the van, I wouldn't be doing it.

Glad I took my machete last winter, had to fight off a coach load of eastern europeans who were trying to pour some anaesthetic gas through my side window while I was asleep. :grin bounce:

Hi
Not expecting to be under seige every night .
It’s more the opportunistic smash and grab when parked up somewhere random. I think side windows tend to be the ones that they would go for and I’m guessing the film isn’t going to be high cost

I’m in Doncaster and have fitted it to a lot of emergency service vehicles. Different thicknesses depending on how secure you want it. Glass has to be removed and then fully filmed to give you the security and left overnight before re fitting. If you search J7 Privacyglass on Facebook there’s a video pinned on there of a demo. Give me a message if you need any more info.

Cheers will do
