Another breakdown , another recovery ...

Good afternoon . Just when I thought it was safe to go back in the water ....!
Just had a little weekend trip to Horsey , Norfolk from the South Coast when I have another problem . Driving down the M11 at full trot , the steering becomes very stiff , like no power steering stiff , and a red battery earning light appears on the dash . Not again I think . Only had a new bloody alternator in August last year !!
Anyhoo, managed to make it to Birchangar services and had a look under the bonnet . Couldn't see a belt but I could see a shiny pulley wheel nestling on a rubber hose and shaft looking very lonely coming out of the block / alternator housing . Bugger me I thought !
Am I cursed or is this par for the course ...that's 3 breakdowns in 6 months !!

Oh jeez...

Got any pics?

Why did you need a new alternator before?

Alternator gave up in Somerset last August . Apparently shot so needed a new one . Story on here somewhere ...
Here's the pulley ...

so its come loose and fallen off?

Yup . I presume it's not captive and there was a nut on it but that and the belt are long gone ..Engine runs ok though and I presume it could have been much worse if it had flown off in another direction ... Will see what the mechanic says but starting to think that this particular T6 is hoo-dooed !!

could be time to take it to a different mechanic / shop.

im assuming it wasn't torqued correctly? - no thread lock? - or new bolt?

not sure as i haven't looked up in the workshop manual about alternator replacement.

All of the above ! Wasn't my usual guy who replaced the alternator as we were stranded 200 miles from home . Surprised though as they seemed very good indeed and very professional .

A vehicle is just a colleague of parts. One part failing doesn't mean the vehicle is no good.
When this is repaired properly you may have years of trouble free motoring.
Very annoying but give it another chance.

Cheers Mick but it's not me you have to convince .. my wife has not been best pleased getting a lift home in the back of a recovery truck 3 times in 6 months ! I'm sure I'm not the only one who's heard it's either me or that damn van ! ( and I don't mean Jean Claude ) ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Oh and she's an Aussie so 8 know you'll understand more than most . Told me I should have got bloody Toyota !!!
