Am I missing the point

The one and only time I tried this with Loz Jr. he put his foot in the front wheel and we both went quite spectacularly over the handlebars and I landed on top of him. Fortunately, he was wearing orthotic shoes made from very hard leather that protected his foot.

Just see it as the start of a family journey.

I have never used those but we used rear child seats. Then when our daughters were about three and a half they went onto the rear seat (obviously) of tandems, where they had to pedal too. One with my wife and one with me. We had some wonderful family trips locally and far, over the UK and Ireland; hosteling or sleeping in our small 4-man tunnel tent.

None of us cycles a great deal now, but I wouldn’t have missed our journey together for anything.

Wow! That could have been a lot worse!
