Hi all, going to use the van for the first time and plan on having a hook up at the campsite and my fridge running inside the van.

How do people deal with rising temps in the van during the day and also the addition heat from the fridge?

I will be away from the van nearly all day and dont fancy leaving the windows open. I did see the sliding window grills but how much !!!!

@moomin-j do you know if this works with full electric tailgates ..?

Can only see this info on the Brandrup website...

So probably the answer is no, it can't?

But then I have just found this seller:

that says:

So maybe it can!!

But after now watching the video, it looks like it can't be used on a fully closing electric tailgate:

Pity, I thought that might be the case... :(

they say that because of numpties fully closing the powered tailgate and expecting the latch to work but instead will mash the trim.

It should work perfectly if you grab the tailgate and then push it closed guiding it onto the hook.

put frozen food or ice packs in a bag in the fridge will stop the fridge running as much

I think I know why the elec tailgate is not listed, I tried s home made version of the stand off today..

The tailgate latch doesnt release when you press the key fob or the external handle. You need open the emergency opening blank and manually release the lock. Not an issue if parked up for few days.

I have a CRX50 and have been in some hot climates with the van closed down all day, the fridge / freezer runs as it should without any problems, no external body vents.
I have a Brandrup tail gate bar and a steel sliding window mesh, IMO the van almost certainly would not be insured against theft if these were used without somebody in attendance.
I find the window curtains along with the insulated pop top roof and fully insulated body keep the van temperature lower might be expected.
No doubt Reflex Silver helps a bit as well.

Been watching this thread with interest as also off for the 1st trip this week and concerned about the heat build up in the van. Have a full powered tailgate, so just bent an old tent peg to something like the Bandrup profile and gave it a go. As previously mentioned you need to stop the door before it fully closes and then push the link in by hand till it latches. Tailgate locks / opens OK on the central locking and door operation as normal on the handle. Only thing that doesn’t appear to work is the auto open on the side of the button (no hardship). Going to try and get a proper link local today but if not then the tent peg might come in handy if the temp stays high.......5F078EF0-5C60-4985-BB65-49B748784538.jpeg7AD96FA0-9ACC-46D5-98E7-90673D2676B6.jpeg

Hi All...we have used the bandrup air latch.....does work with power tailgate ...but we’ve got power latching as well ..it’s a bit stop/start to get it to locate...
but once you get over the horrible feeling that it’s gonna damage the van...it’s ok

I'm also going to get some USB fans which will help provide some cool air for sleeping...
