Aircon compressor failure

Noticed right from the first drive home from dealer that the aircon on my euro 6 159 DSG shuttle wasn't working on any settings. Long story short, but VW dealer took 3 days to establish no gas in the system as a result of the compressor failing. Low and behold, no compressors available from the factory. Components been on back order for a month and still no sign of it. Apparently its 1200 quid so glad its a warranty job but how long it will take to arrive is anyones guess. Anyone had dealings with VW customer services head office in the UK?

Had the same on ours. Also none in UK on back order from Germany but only took about a week or so to get one.

This is getting interesting. After 9 weeks of waiting, aircon compressor has arrived and been fitted by not so local VW dealer and still the A/C is not working. They're unable to get to the bottom of the problem and have escalated the issue for the attention of one of their specialist T6 guru's. As consolation, they topped up my add blue for free and I've gained a DataPlug. Glad its not summer.

Mere minion mechanics had it 6 days with no joy scruffy. As they told me they were escalating my case, I reckon this boy must be Super Mechanic. Probably wears his underpants on top of his overalls and has a big VW on his chest. Gets dressed for his shift in a phone box.

Unfortunately my experience of major dealerships and their servicing departments hasn't always filled me with much confidence. Many years ago I had a prolonged problem with a T5 that at one point VW sent their "specialist" up to look at my van. I asked him what was the difference between him and his colleagues , and he said he was a mechanic, and the others were technicians capable of only following the service instructions. Actually he used much fruitier language to describe his colleagues, but you get the gist.

Anyway, I do hope you get sorted soon.

Aircon compressor issue now finally sorted. Apparently they fitted a new compressor. However that one wasn't running quite fast enough. So they fitted a third.

I'm maybe behind the times but I thought compressors were driven off the engine via a pulley and magnetic clutch. Dealer says not anymore.

Not sure if they're pulling the plonker but hey, it's fixed after a 3 month wait.
