Hi guys, after a bit of advice.

Bought a VW Scirocco 5 weeks ago from a used car garage. The owner isnt very helpful to say the least and im having a gearbox issue (not selecting first gear). She's advised me to contact the warranty company (got 3 months warranty) but we all know warranty companys avoid gearbox claims like the plague and will no doubt pull the 'wear and tear' card out. My mechanic spoke to his gearbox specialist friend and told him the symptoms and hes quite sure it needs a new gearbox but cant confirm until hes had a proper look.

I dont want to be stung with a hefty bill but trying to get the garage to cover the cost is going to be a pain as i've just gone past the standard 30 days where you can return a vehicle. Read up on the Consumer Act 2015 and im still a bit in the dark on where I stand.

Any advice from anyone who's been here before?

Bit of background on the garage I bought it from..... I had to submit a small claims court case to get her to agree to replace a binding caliper. She refused until the court case landed on her doorstep, well, email address ha ha

It has to be fit for purpose for 6 months after purchase. Its on them to sort it out, not the warranty company.

You can also reject a car upto 6 months after purchase if it has had issues (I think the garage gets 2 attempts to fix it?)
