Adblue quality Vs price, is it all the same?

As title, 10 litres is 10 quids at B&Q, my son has just had his Caddy serviced (it's his first vehicle and I asked the garage to give it a good look over but I trust him and he doesn't overcharge) and they put 10l in charged at 22 quid plus VAT!

So is this gold standard Adblue or is it all the same stuff?

As Sasquatch said.
BUT - if something goes wrong with Adblue system then VW might use that fact as an 'out' by saying you used low quality Adblue.
There was a thread on here within the last few months where they tried that one on. Can't remember if there was an ok resolution.
The dealer that I got my van from was adamant not to use any Adblue apart from VW - but their next thing might be that you have to buy vw diesel or vw electricity for their vans or the guarantee is null and void.

The mechanic your son used would have likely purchased Adblue in bulk and it will probably be the same quality or cheaper as the B and Q as long as it hadn't been sitting around too long. They wouldn't have made much money on that filling the Adblue. Seems quite reasonable.

Ah there we are, I had no idea you could buy 'genuine VW' Adblue! Looks like it's best part of 40 quid for 10 litres!!

Thank you, I do trust the guy, use him for all my servicing and I'm certain he won't have overcharged my son.

Just making a living
Back in the day when we had Discoverys, we used to take them to the main dealer for servicing, they always charged around a fiver for washer fluid, regardless of how much they put in. This narked me, so being a tight Yorkshire man, I started filling the washer bottle just before I took the car in for service, lo & behold, when I picked up the car, there was the obligatory £5 quids worth of washer fluid. I queried this and was told, "Oh, the system automatically puts it on the bill", to wit my reply was "well you can manually remove it then". After that I specifically told them not to fill the washer bottle every time I took it in for servicing.

Dealers use a sachet of super-concentrate screenwash, so only put in the same 75ml sachet of screenwash every single time. The rest is water. Thats why they charge the same no matter how much or little is required.

Aye, but they were charging me when they hadn’t put any in. Cheeky feckers!

Not AdBlue but my trusted Indy topped up my screen wash during a service and charged me £2.
Thing is I’d topped it to the brim before taking it to him so I imagine he managed to squeeze perhaps 20ml of his cheap stuff on top of the RainX screen wash I put in and thought he’d charge printer ink money for it.
He did say he’d knock it off the next bill when I asked how he’d managed to top up a full bottle.

Just wondering what you guys measure it out of the 10l containers, or do you wait until it asked for that amount?

I fill up at the local truck stop from their pump - That way I can just add the requested amount, it is about 1/2 the price of buying a 10 litre container, and a lot less faffing around.
I used to use the pump at the local garage and refill my 10l container. However the pump price is now £1.50/L whereas I can buy a 10litre container for £10. It’s madness, the container must be at least £1 and it has to be delivered in small quantities to retailers.
