2wd electronic diff lock

Anyone know how it works or if it is supposed to work. Noticed today one wheel on mud one on hard surface the wheel on mud was spinning the other nothing, no forward drive. Though if there was some sort of edl then I should have been able to drive of mud.

That's a normal open differential. If one of the wheels starts spinning it just sends all the power to that wheel. For electronic traction control, what normally happens is that it applies the brake to the wheel that is spinning so that some drive can be sent to the other one which in your case would have gripped on the hard surface. You should have a button below the radio to turn this off; it should be on as standard. It looks like a car with two wavy lines under it.

I was never convinced by EDL on my T5 Vel which had ESP &EDL as standard. Our T6 is 4Motion so a different situation now, but I did add a diff locker to the rear axel, because of my lack of believe in the EDL.
In fact our motorhome (fiat ducato based) has that a button on the dash called "Traction+" as do Peugeot and Citroens if you spec it as an option. Our Fiat also has ESP or an equivalent. So the big questions is why did Fiat fit the button, because I don't they believe that EDL works either. You can only use the button upto 25mph/kmh or something similar.

Did you rev the van quite hard in order to engage it, it doesn't engage at low revs?

Yes that is what I thought. No button under radio. Thought traction control was part of the electronic stability program that is standard on all T6. Does the wheel have to spin at a certain amount of revs for the program to kick in.

Just seen your bit about the revs. No I didn't rev too hard maybe not enough. Any idea what sort of revs it engages at.

Take a look at this volvo video, yes its 4 wheel drive, but imagine the same thing with 2 wheel drive. The Volvo system is very similar to VW's.
The section about 2 minutes in, the concrete dumplins followed by the steel rollers show how EDL works, he really does rev it quite hard. (Make sure your sounds turned up)

Thanks all not enough revs I think. Could prove mud splattering in fields.
