2016 T6 - Replacing driveshafts - How To?

Evening all,

Van is a 2016 T6 102 5speed

I’ve got a slight vibration through steering between 65-70mph when on the gas only. Coasting or even off the gas it disappears which leads me to reject the idea it’s a wheel/tyre issue and more so driveline.

I also imagine if it was a wheel bearing then this too would show itself at all times, on or off the gas.

I feel, based on other posts, the likely culprit is a driveshaft.

Is it as simple as wheel off, driveshaft nut off, undo bottom ball joint, turn steering and undo inner flange bolts before wiggling it free? Assume Caliper may need to be tied up out the way for space? I’ve looked at images of the part online and concerned there may be an awkward circlip on the inner (unless this is a sealing face?).

Cheers in advance

You'll need a bar and the persuader getting out as the 6 bolted flange at the gearbox end is usually very tight and needs a little persuasion to release from the cup

With regards to the bottom ball joint, the joints are mounted to the bottom of the upright with spline bolts. Can't remember if they are M10 or M12. Anyway, it's easier to leave the joint attached to the bottom arm.

Thanks all for your input - incredibly valuable and a lot less intimidating this way!

Did you replace the driveshafts?
Did it resolve the vibration?
I've got a similar vibration and suspected tyres, had new tyres and balancing, the vibration didn't change, so not tyres. I'm thinking it's possibly driveshafts. Mine's a 2016 4Motion.
