I ended up going for the Goodyear Eagle F1's and stayed with 255/45/18. I remembered that I had my spare that would also need changing if I moved to 235/55/18.

I've had them and there good tyres and still grip well now even on the wear limit. Hope you get good mileage from them as I got about 18mths on my front 2

Just bought 2x Michelin CC2 for £185 ea at Costco. Lot cheaper than anywhere else and CC3 not available in 255/45/18 103.

CC3 in 255/45R18 probably available some time later or in the new year I am waiting for my size and also a few more comparison site views might appear in that time? CC2 are excellent in any case.

So I went with 235 55 18, what tyre pressures do we think would be ideal?

After some experimentation I run mine at 42 on the same size boots. Thats a weighty full camper conversion with Eibach lift-restoring rear end, and seems to give a good compromise betwixt comfort and grip.

Of course, the tyres you have will be a factor, but 42 isn't a bad start point.

Thanks.

I'm on Goodyear vector 4 seasons. Gone for 45psi to start so may drop a little. Don't run heavy all the time but sometimes upto 800kg load.

I’m looking at replacing the standard Devonports (ET56) with an 18in swamper style (ET35) wheel and AT tyre (Wildpeaks). I want to fill the arch as much as possible but don’t want them to protrude from the wheel arch and be an MOT failure. I’m thinking 235 55 18s, would those fit ok or can I go 245s? I’ve done the whole ‘will they fit’ calculator but interested in images if anyone has any of their vehicles from side on to see how much they stick out. I want that aggressive look but comply with the old law!

When one asking for specific advice about a vehicle problem or fitting something it may be pertinent to give specific details about the vehicle in question and if it may have been modified. It just helps that adviser to answer the question with more certainty. For what it is worth the tyres that you mention are good tyres but are they best or even good for your specific needs. AT or all terrain tyres are as it is stated and are usually directed towards people with neds for some level of off road activity. they are legal on the road but would another tyre do better. If we have the dosh then we could buy 2 sets of rims one best for the summer and one directed at winter travel need especially if visiting some mountainous areas in Europe when it might become a legal necessity. Not all AT tyres have 3 Peaks Mud and Snow and may not qualify Wild Peak do I understand and many other AT tyres are also following as the 3PM&S trend which is good. However for the vast majority of people the best all round performance is assured with AS or all Season Tyres that are 3PM&S. these will provide better on road grip throughout the seasons and also do quite nicely off road for those occasional visits off road. AS tyres will also handle and stop handle better than AT on the road. Noise is another factor. AT tyre on road when new may make an acceptable volume of noise but as they are driven over thousands of miles will become noisier and may drone depending on particular pattern. I use AT tyres because I live off road on our own land and travel approximately a mile much of it crossing other farms it is steep an unmade muddy rocky depending on which trackway I use. It can become impossible without AT tyres deeply rutted in places which becomes worse as the seasons become wetter with washouts too. When I can if weather permits I use normal tyres actually have 3 sets some years I have to leave AT on all year. If I was only using the vehicle only on road I would use AS tyres my present BFG tyres drone quite a bit now and can be tiring over longer journeys. On e does become used to a tyres deficiencies but is that wise if it is not a necessity? Surely we might consider using the best tryer that we can afford for our own and families safety. Choosing tyres from top brands is usually a good idea and most of them manufacture AS tyres. A popular choice on here are Michelin CrossClimate AS 3PM&S now just arrived in CC3 form. Perelli are also doing well in tyre tests also at he moment in AS tyres. It is the most competitive sector and a lot of research £ is directed that way.

I appreciate you taking the time to respond. I’ve considered the tyre choice, it wasn’t straight forward of course but the Wildpeaks are a good compromise for me. I don’t have space to store separate wheels and my lifestyle can dictate that at a drop of a hat I may have spare time to go up into the mountains and can’t be bothered to change them!
I missed some important info, thank you. T6.1 T32 Kombi. Standard suspension. The query was more about experience of putting the wider tyres/rims and lower offset and how that would look and whether it was borderline illegal. I have done willtheyfit to death but nothing quite compares to a side profile image of someone who has done it already!!
Thanks all.

FYI from previous post:
Running 215/60R17 on standard 17x7 Devonport wheels ET56.
Wanting 235/55R18 on 18x8.5 Bola B30 ET30
