Im thinking of maybe mounting a LED bar on in the front and two LED flood lights in the rear.
So the cables will be permanently. Im not so happy about drilling holes in the roof.. thinking of rust and shit like that
Im thinking of mounting some work lights on the Thule bars on the roof of my van.
Is there a way to route the cables into the van and towards the cockpit? I do hope i dont have to drill holes in the roof and try to get that rust-safe. And also to squeese the cables between doors and gaskets...
How do you get the black-cover on the picture off?
I dont dare to pry or do something brutalish with it.
The rest of the plastic nuts is easy with plastic pry tools..
Funny thing is that the LED strip i got from China said to be white, but is bluish in color. Looks weird and wrong so a new strip is needed to get the propper look. I will post a picture later.
Its good space above the inner roof to pull cables for stuff..
It works!
There is three wires, Red,Yellow and black
Red is +12V
Black us 0V
Yellow is switched 0V
So when connected to Red and Yellow it works perfectly. Led strips dim down also.
Alrigthy then. Is the electrical setup pretty similar to the T5? Or has VW made some major changes.
I guess that a cheep LED strip from china has some limitations.
I have aftermaket LED roof lights mounted and they dim down and goes off when they are supposed to, and they are connected with...
As topic says, roof light and cargo room. My T6 Transporter has the two lamps in the roof and they are connected with three wires and they dim down when inactive, starting engine, looking etc. And I want to place some more light in the cargo room because of the Sortimo layout I have in the van...
When last I looked in the instruction book for the car its not specified any other things that the bulbs needs to be the same socket(obviously) and wattage. I cant remember that ANY brand is specified ..
From that its possible that the connector is the same for the H4 and H7 lights, and that there is a internal difference.
It is then most likely that some coding is needed to get the H7 units to work properly. Might be CANBUS errors and those kind of faults when changing units.
Just my thought...
H4 bulbs has twin filament and H7 has one filament. Therefor i guess the light output in one H4 bulb is lower on dipped compared with H7 on dipped since the dual filamet on the H4. Also the H4 has three connecting pins on the back, and H7 has two.
My father had the same issue on a Kawasaki...
Its a slight difference in the reflectors and the design of the light units on the H4 and H7. Its like the T5.1 with H4 lights and the one with Xenon/LED - Crap vs great..
I've got two of those myself. Thinking of a "invisible" mount under the bumper. Hopefully its somewhere to fasten them without drilling into the chassis.. Dont want the van to rust either
Great idea with the LED bulb. I dont have the rear camera. Its LED in the numberplate lights. Perhapes I get the time to do the work on it this weekend
