...DC/solar charging system (Projecta IDC25X) and Victron BlueSmart Charger. The whole leisure system is completely separate from VW starterbattery,
Luckily, the van came from VW with no Adblue and no Stop/start, and so, no Smart alternator.....high fives all round.!!
My question is, does...
With the ignition off my battery is sitting only just above 12v and drops to 10 something when starting.
With the engine running its 14.2 /14.3v which is what I'd expect.
Current batt is about 6.5 years old .
Van gets a good run on a weekly basis , not sat around .
What do you reckon ?
My Victron DC-DC does have a run switch but I never connected it as I believe the DC-DC senses the engine is not running so it isolates the starterbattery 🤔
Accepted method is to fit charger to leisure battery, and use something similar to an Ablemail AMT-12 to maintain the starterbattery. This method prioritises the LB over the SB. Which is what you need.
...bench?
3.Are there electrical issues other than unattaching 2 terminals and dropping a new one in or do I have to "isolate" the starterbattery?
4. Is it a job I should get a "professional" to do for me. I am not the most practical person.
The issue is it is not holding its charge and in...
I have the Renogy App running on a BT2. I've not heard of a Renegade App, is that something new?
With a Multimeter I checked the starterbattery voltage with the cable disconnected from the DC-DC. It was a normal ready about 13volts, I can't remember exactly.
I did the same with the leisure...
...charger for EHU, and looking at the Victron IP65, and I was about to be one of those people Dellmassive mentioned - was ignoring the starterbattery.
So now I'm thinking I should go for option 1 and trickle charge the starter. To clarify - my Victron XS will automatically charge the LB...
I thought my 5 year old Varta starterbattery was in good health, no problem cranking and solar keeping it topped up.
It was only when I was loading my leisure battery up with winter use that I realised the alternator was stuffing amps into what must have been a starterbattery with an internal...
A new Bosch S5 A11 starterbattery. Strictly speaking, I ordered it yesterday from Amazon as I had a £100 voucher to use and their price was as good as anywhere else and cheaper than many. Hopefully a new starterbattery will ease the drain on my leisure battery. I think it might have been...
...should go and in addition where your negative link to the vehicle bodywork will go.
Just like the factory ECU shunt at the starterbattery if all negative connections have to pass through the shunt before getting to the battery then any current flow can be measured and displayed, any live to...
Hi guys
Got an issue with my 2019 t6
Cxgb 102bhp
The starter is disengaging too early causing it not to start 50% of the time, sometimes takes 4 or 5 goes to get it to start and when it does start it has a slight dip in rpm as soon as it starts. Runs and drives fine no issues once it’s...
Hi, my starterbattery appears goosed after a long period of inactivity. Needed jumping before the CTEK would recognise it and after nearly 24 hours charging/reconditioning it started but after driving a short while the battery light came on and it now won’t restart. It’s a Varta in it but can I...
I have just traced the wire back to the starterbattery and disconnected this wire.
The draw has dropped instantly to about 40mA
The battery connectors are now completely standard.
Oh I see, in that case if you're on hook up maybe consider a trickle charger for the starterbattery? If you really want to arrive with the starter at 100% though, I'm not sure how to do that - maybe it's configurable in VCDS etc but I've never seen it discussed. Possibly pulling the power...
...time, especially over winter months.
I have 2 120ah 12v AGM batteries in parallel (so 240ah I'm told) onboard the van & also a 70ah starterbattery. I'm looking for a battery charger that is suitable to switch between both batteries if poss. I've become somewhat confused by some of the info...

As far as I can tell the boost function boost the starter and the leisure battery. I have a b2b fitted but on camp sites opening and closing doors all day seems to eataway at the starter and soon pulls it down.
