So, I’ve been sorting out a route through from under the driver’s seat to the rear cupboard area of my Birchover Classic (T6.1 2023) for a number of new cables in preparation for a few updates I’ve got planned.
In case it is helpful to anyone I’ve found the easiest route is to just follow where...
Something is amiss. If there are 2 positives into the fuse box then there should be 2 cables coming out. Also the cables coming out are also positive. They shouldn’t be connected to the neg battery.
You need to get that wiring looked at imho.
So just checked and there are 3 cables going into that fuse, which has 2 x 25a fuses in it. 1 of those cables is the smaller circled one, another is going into the MPPT (PV+) its just routed underneath mat so you can't really see it, and the other is a negative cable going to the LB, which...
fitting the sub under the passenger seat was a struggle I ended up routing a channel in the top of the sub so the seat electrics ran down it to the middle of the seat and then up through the seat base with a stainless steel plate covering the channel to protect the cables when turning the seat...
I had aproblem with crashing, though not written it up. There's a tick box in VCDS to do with the starting display, when it was set to the one thar shows GTE it would crash when a route was edited. It's very cold here and I've not got the kit connected, nor time to write it up proplerly. I...
I didn't fit it, but I think it comes down the side of the wardrobe, returns along the wardrobe base and then goes down behind the fridge. The chap who i asked to look at fitting an AMT shunt thought the cable had been very well routed. I'll take a photo tomorrow if that helps.
Most people put the hook up socket under the bonnet and feed the cable in through one of the grommets that lead into either of the footwells.
Lots of info on here.
I would like to add a battery charger for the transporter. I have a defa kit laying around. I would also like to put a 220V Socket in the back for a heater. I have a leisure battery under the drivers seat, so I guess it would be easier to put the charger on that battery for a quick and easy...
Yes mate I’m extremely happy with them. They give off a nice blue colour & not distracting at all. Being able to dim them to personal preference is an added bonus.
That certainly makes sense thank you, I'd be more than happy to cut out an extra hole. Its risking the electrics side with me being a novice on this front.
I'm no rush at moment as I'm going to put one of those front badge EHU connectors in behind the badge and run a cable to the rear of the...
Hi guys,
I’ve been mulling over for a while whether to buy this light kit and finally made the decision when beacons and light bars offered an 8% discount on them, so I bought them. Shame I totally forgot about Black Friday, Stealth LED offered 10% discount a few days after I bought mine….ah...
It's a lot cheaper running 240v cable the length of the van than 50mm 12v
And the cable is easier to handle and route
That's why most folks put the inverter and battery close together
But yes with inverter cables the sizing is going to be dominated by the sustained current and heating risk...
Thanks for the reply. Yeah I think the plan is now to put the battery just in front the wheel arch by the kitchen unit. I have a tailgate, but was going to run the solar cables through the existing grommit. My only issue is I feel like I'm not making great use of the space under the drivers...
