Renogy 12V Lithium ion battery - Sargent EC160

Hi, sorry to message again about similar issue I’ve read many articles and a lot of it goes over my head lol…..but I’m looking at getting Renogy - 12V 100Ah Lithium Ion Battery w/Bluetooth. Currently have Sargent EC160 power supply so will this be sufficient to charge the lithium battery as...

    Life after a T6 camper

A quick update. I have now converted the van over to a Lithium leisure battery, with appropriate Victron solar and B2B chargers. You have to work around the installed Sargent equipment, which can be fun when it is installed behind panels etc. It looks like Autotrail have moved with the times...

    Sargent alarm

What's your battery? Lithium? But yes, the Victron presumably is there to replace the Sargent mains charging facility. The Sargent therefore is now just for distribution of the 12 and 240v.

    Victron SmartShunt Configuration

Update... I have synced the shunt in settings to 100%. Not sure this is the solution though?

    AGM vs Wet Lead Acid

Thanks for your advice. Looks like it is better to save money on a replacement battery and do the upgrade to lithium battery, DC-DC charger and a new 240v charger. I have read that I will need to deactivate the Sargent EC155 Power Supply Unit 240v charger. Is there anything fancy to doing...

Lithium LifePo4 12v Batteries - Time For An Upgrade?

Afternoon Hoping for some help/clarification, On a previous trip I was fairly certain I drained the current battery lead acid? (Enforcer 110ah 12v) without fully knowing the limitations of the battery type, for a following trip, I quickly added in a Victron Battery Protect to stop it from...

Swapping my leisure battery to LiFePO4

Lithium needs a different charging profile which I don't think your Sargent device can provide. Your solar controller needs to have a Lithium profile too. So no, you can't just swap the battery out. Show us some photos of what you have and you will get good advice here. Pete

Van electrics upgrade - Shopping list sense check?

Did you ever get this resolved? I have Lithium 230AH, and it's an All Seasons van, only recently got it, but it has a Sargent EC700 power unit, which I don't think will make the best use of the battery. At some point, I am looking at getting another Lithium, probably in a series or parallel...

Changing CBE 516 Charger to a Lithium Charger

Adding some pictures of your existing setup will help people advise. LiFePo batteries are not drop in replacements, if you have fitted the lithium battery without changing anything else you should consider disconnecting it until you have the chargers sorted out. Lithium batteries should not be...

Lithium LifePo4 12v Batteries - Time For An Upgrade?

There’s a lot to comment on here. My view, in short… - Go lithium. Go as big as you can reasonably fit and afford. Get one with a BMS. One of the best upgrades I ever did. - Do some maths, and maybe even use AI to help. ChatGPT gave me some really useful insights. I provided: - what...

Direct charge from 240v hook up to Fogstar 105ah Lithium Battery

You are on the 12v side. To do it on the 240v side you'd need to fit an additional RCD and ground effectively having 2 EHU systems - that's not worth the cost, hassle or space in the van. The Sargent type systems are pretty competent and compact 240v consumer units and 12v fuse/switch boxes -...

Upgrade from Sargent EC155 Advice Request

Have you connected your Fogstar directly in place you used to have an AGM battery? If you don't have an existing DC-DC charger and haven't fitted one then you will be connecting your AGM van battery directly to your Lithium battery via the split charge relay in the Sargent - and that's a very...

    Fogstar Batteries

Your Sargent charger is 'suitable for lead-acid' batteries, so not ideal for Lithium, same for the VSR.

    Camper electrics

To be fair to Sargent that's more of a causal relationship, nothing inherently wrong with the units. It's just they are the wrong solution for a lot of folks and they are now very dated in a world rapidly needing more from an electrical system. Should they ever produce one with native DC-DC...

    Fogstar Batteries

Looking to change up to 105ah Lithium. Currently have a 2015 VanWorx conversion. Sargent PX300 3 stage intelligent charger(14.4v peak) Koshun 300 inverter VSR relay Would the upgraded DC-DC charger replace Sargent unit and VSR relay?

Van electrics upgrade - Shopping list sense check?

Curious why you are asking Renogy about a Fogstar battery and a Sargent charger? Do you have a typo? I've queried Fogstar in the past about the apparent statement that they support direct alternator charging and they were a bit vague about it. The risk of using normal lead acid chargers with...

    Leisure power upgrade

I’m going to start buying the equipment I need to upgrade to a kick ass lithium set up that will provide a lot longer off grid camping. Thanks to a lot of advice from @Dellmassive I've got a great idea of what to buy now. Also thanks to @Tall_Paul for solar panel advice. So here is my proposed...

    Upgrade DC DC

Yes it does but it's the SA model and it's not compatible with Lithium battery. The Sargent keeps alarming too (High voltage alarm)
