i am only away for long weekend mostly for park up- batteries hold ok for 3 or 4 nights- compressor fridge and Diesel heater are the big drain. Just recently got the Solar hook up wired up- still to try out in summer
The Sergent Ec155 spec says mainy for Lead acid- it might charge the agm's but...
Hi all,
Currently in the middle of planning the electrical setup for my T6.1 LWB camper conversion and just wanted to get some opinions from people who have gone down a similar route.
The van already has the factory fitted auxiliary battery setup under the passenger seat along with the factory...
First two days of 100% solar powered household.
Finally turned off the over night Grid charge to the battery bank.
Slowly decreasing from 4hrs to 30mins.
And now off.
Now using the solar to charge battery and run the house, the battery bank has enough capacity to run the place for 24hrs...
Hi
I previously asked for feedback on my proposed electrical install. I was guided by members to have a deep dive into the prior responses / topics on the forum. Finding this in particular by dellmassive plus other posts and a bit of spreadsheet work has helped me get a handle of my usage...
See post #126 for an overview, It could be done cheaper by putting more panels on less MPPT charge controllers but I went for three identical strings to allow comparison and if one panel or controller goes faulty, I only lose a third of the production until I can get it fixed.
The biggest...
I have a similar setup to this, both your current setup and the proposed solar kit. The MPPT connects to the battery though so the Sargent setup is not really relevant. I think my panel is 150w (maybe 180) and this is sufficient to extend the life of the batteryoffgrid but not sufficient to...
It was replacing an existing 130Ah battery - so for us it was a pretty much direct replacement, in terms of size, with a bit more capacity and less weight.
Having done a week offgrid over the summer, and not requiring more power, it made sense. The UK made / 12 Year warranty were the most...
I'm really considering not having EHU at all on my current build. Might just get 230ah seatbase battery and solar. Id happily go larger battery, the likes of 300ah but 230 is the max to get in under the drivers seat
Clayton Power LPS 2000 Portable Power Station – Excellent Condition (Only 4 Cycles)
Change of plans with my campervan conversion.
Selling my Clayton Power LPS 2000, a high-end portable power station ideal for campervans, off-grid setups, van conversions, events or backup power.
The unit is in...
I decided to go down this route when we were off-grid.
On day 2 I plugged Bluetti into EHU. The leisure battery charger drew about 330wh, so I ran for an hour (which topped up the AGM), and the same on day 3.
You can run the Renology down to lower %, and may find you can keep Jackery in reserve.
The more power you consume the more complicated and expensive it gets. I use a 1000W inverter and select my appliances to be compatible with that consumption. I don’t use gas (have it as a back up) and use a kettle, single hob, Remoska (not together) to stay at 1000W or below. It can be a bit...
@The Flying Scotsman
Is the alternator charger as simple as they say, just connect the positive to the battery and an earth
Did you put it on the main van battery or on the leisure battery connections
We’re did you place the box in the van and route the cable
Thanks
My van is new to me and I had the first offgrid trip away last weekend with no issues. When I got home I plugged the EHU in to charge the leisure battery. The EHU is located under the bonnet so I plugged it in, lowered the bonnet but didn’t close it all the way for fear of damaging the cable...
I use a bluetti ac240 200 watt solar and the charger 1 -2 does me a weekend camping of grid that powers my tv fridge heater ext i use gas for cooking and kettle etc if money is not an issue there is bigger and better bluetti stuff now that can run a full electric van if that's what your after...
My Starlink journey continues… now have Starlink permanently fixed in horizontal to the Cali roof rails (using an Aussie built connecting bracket), powered by an EcoFlow delta 3 plus battery which is about to be topped up by a 200w roof mounted solar panel. Idea is that we can use our phone...
We have charged our AGM battery through the Sargent on EHU for 6 years, they took the charge no problem. We are getting 2 batteries fitted next week (one to replace the current battery under the passenger’s seat and one additional one under the drivers seat). Do you find the 2 AGMs give you...
I'm having a 250w solar panel with victron panel and a planar diesel heater installed very soon in my T6.1. however, I'm also considering installing an inverter for that extra option for 240v when off-grid.
The battery I currently have is this XR-1750
The DC charger I have is this (BB1230)...
We do quite a few 4 day offgrid camps, EHU scarce. Solar takes the stress out of LB management. We've never been turned away from a site because they are full, just a patch of land is all we need. It made the NC500 very easy to stay where we wanted, not what was available officially.
