As previously mentioned the “Battery Voltage” readings all look wrong. They should be virtually the same. Are all the outputs of the devices connected together very close to the smart shunt. The Orion & MPPT need connecting to the Smart shunt as close as possible with the same size & length of...
From your original set up I was going to say that a bigger solar panel would be a good idea, and the newer Orion 50a DC-DC. So all good in that respect!
I did 3 weeks in the van a month or 2 ago and didn't need hookup at all. That was with a good amount of cooking on an 800w induction hob, too...
They're certainly an option now with the new alternator charger - but if you wanted just a basic, 100Ah LifePO4 battery setup, with a 1000w inverter, and a 200w solar MPPT, I'd bet it's not any more expensive to do this with separate devices than an all in one Ecoflow. You're paying for the...

I’m not saying these are 100% the perfect settings but they are working well for me. The Fogstar website has details on their FAQ page for Victron specific settings - I’ve used those.
MPPT:
Orion (mine is a 30A but settings should be v similar). I’m on the default engine detection...
its up to you.. . . what you fit.
but if it was me, id fit either the VictronOrion XS or the Renogy DC50s as they are programmable, run cool, and have APPS.
(and if you wanted to add solar just fit a Vict 75/15 or other separately )
i wasnt to impressed with the D250SE ,. . . . in fact i...
You won't go wrong with a Roamer, I would say go for a larger capacity if you can, you can never have too much available power. Great company superb aftersales.
The Orion XS50 would be a better choice, again if you can, it runs cooler than the TR30, and is physically smaller.
Hi all,
I'm currently in the planning stages of my T6 camper conversion and working through the electrical system. I’ve attached below the diagram I've created of the layout I’m going for. I’d really appreciate any feedback or advice from those who’ve been through a similar build or have...
Yes you can do all of the above,
I would say the 100 watt panel will be an absolute minimum, I would be more inclined to go for a 200 watt panel... With a victron mppt solar controller.
As for the size of lithium battery the 105 amp hour we'll double your runtime versus your AGM, but if you...
Full Victron Spec will be:-
3 x Lithium 12.8V-160Ah Smart LiFePO4 Batteries
2 x Lynx Distributors (One for Battery Connections, One for Load Connections)
2 x Orion Tr Smart 30A DC to DC Chargers
Orion Tr Smart 12v - 24v DC to DC Converter
Lynx Smart BMS
Cerbo GX with GX Touch 50

If I were to replace leisure system (provided current hillside mains charger can accommodate).
Would the below look about right?
100-200w Solar on sca rails
Victron mppt 75/15 controller in rear wardrobe unit
(This is all a kit)
And then under drivers seat

Electrics upgrade bought in the BF sales but not fitted yet:
- Fogstar 105Ah lithium battery
- VictronOrion DC to DC charger
- Victron MPPT
- Victron IP65 mains charger
- Renogy 200w solar panel
- PPF to put on pop top under solar panel
- cables, crimps, fuses…..
Plus some Xmas presents:

@DentedT6.1 There is a new version of the VictronDC-DC charger out now that fixes both these issues. More capacity, better efficiency so it doesn't get so hot & can now be networked if required. See the Victron site here.
The 12-12 is out now. The 12-24 won't be out until later in the year...
That's pretty cool - thanks for all this. I have an ecoflow delta 2 already but only a 100w renogy suitcase solar panel so I'm guessing an alternator charger and cables is all I'd need for a basic setup?
Someone has been tinkering under there as that doesn’t look OEM. At least I hope VW don’t just twist and tape cables together!
In essence what you suggest is fine but I’d want to get a multimeter on there and see exactly what is what. I’d also use a separate fused busbar for my leisure...
Resurrecting old thread - as winter approaching took another look at the charger and think worked out what’s happening.
There are a number of other boxes so hopefully someone will be able to clarify if my understanding is right.
1. There is a Sargent EC155 - this works as a consumer unit /...
We love what you’ve done with our van Jason. You and Noel are magicians. We’re looking forward to getting our (faulty) solar panel replaced and upgraded so that we can realise the full off grid potential of our leisure electrics install. You’ll just have the diesel heater to install for us when...
Initially they will run independently,
As in they will both sample that AGM battery voltage and decide what's needed to charge it. (The solar will trickle charge when the sun is out, and the DC-DC will charge as needed when the engine is running)
I like the analogy of the battery being a...
