Isn’t the official name a frontcrankshaftoil seal?
That’s pretty poor if VW exclude that specifically on the all in warranty. Especially as they do cover it on the extended warranty.

It’s a lovely van but is rarely used (4k miles in the last 12 months).
Spec & Features are as follows:

I’ve had the same problem with the egr cooler splitting and allowing coolant into the exhaust recirculation. Upon replacing the egr cooler o also found the elbow at the back of the egr cooler had split and was allowing fumes into the cab.
£280 for the cooler and another £50 for the elbow...
