...over and it’s sold on it’s no longer their issue.
With the EGR causing soot contamination of engine oil and regeneration issues causing fuel dilution of engine oil I wouldn’t touch a vehicle that’s been on a long service maintenance schedule.
The first service should ideally be well before...
...I hadn’t heard of this being a common issue until I began researching online, but from what I’ve read it can sometimes be caused by fuel dilution—often linked to interrupted DPF regeneration cycles—and can be managed by ensuring the regeneration process is allowed to complete.
To rule out a...
For that price you need to ask what you are getting, injectors, pumps and valves should be overhauled in a clean room as the operating clearances are mere microns, they then need to pass a stringent test procedure.
For £144 inc VAT I suspect the outcome won’t be good.
A failed injector can bore...
I've used the Valet Pro Bilberry and it's pretty good but very thin so runs off before it's taken full effect so still needs a contact clean with a wheel brush.
The iron fallout stuff is fantastic but not cheap. Nice and thick so it has time to work.
Just finished a bottle of Auto Finesse...
...keep a close eye on my levels so I'm happy enough to ignore it.
Nevertheless, it makes me wonder how many folk have suffered this fault and just happened to have a high oil level due to slipshod servicing and then went on to add two and two together and come up with "oil dilution" when it...
Other loads seem fine, but I'm guessing it is power draw. Tension is fine, and I can reach the bottom few pulleys which seem rock solid.
Now I've realised I probably shouldn't have put WD40 on it, as the squeak is back and is all the time now - I have tried a bit of water on the belt to dilute...
my point is, although it is difficult to make while I laugh so much, is that diesel dilution of the oil is not "unheard of" or "crazy". lots of people have suffered it, really.
Well.... Decided today two years later almost... To use this stuff... Thankfully wall and coping stones came up a treat. Even trialled on bit of fence. Used approx 2:1 ratio and used a back pack sprayer to put on. Won't be using on cars/vans! 😄
Genuine diesel dilution is unusual on these. Not unheard of, but the case for the prosecution is rarely proven.
Occam's Razor suggests the garage simply rammed up full up to the line.
They're happiest with the level about halfway between the lines, so you'll need to pump out c.500ml, perhaps a...
If you leave it idling too long during a regen itll abort the process (unless its very close to the end) and will have another try next time the correct operating conditions are met.
Sounds like excess fuel, if it’s on start up most likely a leaking injector.
The excess fuel will be washing the bore, diluting the oil, clogging the EGR / induction and damaging the DPF. Don’t run it in this condition.
A garage should be able to diagnose this.
It doesn't occur. Excessive dilution is all but unheard of on these.
The warning messages are simply a case of garages brimming the oil to the top mark on the dipstick or even beyond. Sooner or later this upsets the sensor.
Once the oil level is reduced to around the halfway mark the warning...
...change, truth is I never checked it after the service or up until now. So it might of been overfilled since then. Or it's the dreaded oil dilution from regens.
I've booked it in immediately for an oil change and new filter, and it won't be driven until then.
My question is, should I sent...
Have a Search with ‘dilution’. Plenty of content on the Forum.
If your oil level is rising without anybody adding oil there are two possibilities:
1. Coolant contamination - emulsified oil, obvious.
2. Fuel dilution - not obvious at all and with a 2% diesel contamination limit before accelerated...
You don’t, safe to say that there will have been some dilution and as 2% is the safe limit who knows. Fuel dilution will probably kill the turbocharger and oil control rings before anything else.
If the top end had excessive wear it would be noisy all the time and probably more so when the oil...
