Dont suppose any of you have driven on steelies Vs alloys as a comparison? Does it really affect handling/breaking and fuel economy that much?
I presume on a van the only real difference you may notice is the fuel?

I've got 235/55/18 and am very happy with them, I know many people are happy with 255/45/18.
Right, as we say up here “games a bogey”. Went to Skidz and ordered 18” steel wheels with the proper 255/45 R18 cross climates and get them on Thursday. Any wanna buy 20’s? Don’t read this thread first lol

Well I hope that you can have them in your size. They make CC2 255/45R18 so should do that size in CC3 trying to find out but nothing yet.

Load seems to be by wheel. I’m not convinced by the answers though. It’s approx 10psi less than the vehicle tyre plate!
e.g. T28 with max load on front axle of 1600kg equals 800kg per wheel (1764lbs). Vehicle plate says 48psi for 25545/18 103Y, Falken chart says 38psi. That’s a big difference.
I have just put 4 new tyres on my Van and was wondering what people have their tyre pressures at? I got this chart from Kwik Fit but not sure how accurate it is. Does any one else run on 255/45/18?
Hoping for some advice.
Just picked up my 2018 Caravelle and these came with it (private sale)
4 wheels in immaculate condition inside and out with perfect tyres
tyres are Vedestein Giugiaro Ultra Satin 255-45-18 103Y
wheels are BORBET 7.5J x 18 ET35 - 5x120 with all the wheel bolts and lock nuts

...centre to arch so appears to be more like 40mm drop though.
Anyway it looks way better than the Sportline wheels that I had fitted before with 255/45/18’s.
What you have to remember is that comparing those two tyres sees it sitting 26mm higher off the ground but also a 26mm shorter arch gap.
Agree the numbers on the plate should be used, but, given the OP sounded unsure, I was expecting (but didn't check ) that the chart would correspond with the plate.
Maybe worth checking the ET of the wheel? However the standard tyre profile for an 18 is 235/50/18 or 255/45/18. If you want a high profile tyre then go down to a 17” or raise the height.
2554518 103 running Dunlop Sportmax as they were a decent mid range tyre on offer at the time.
Ride comfort/quality has roughly bugger all to do with whether your tyres have 7mm more wall height than tyre "A" and everything to do with a more compliant suspension than the sections of telegraph...
