Best thing we ever did was get rid of AGM and install a 180ah lithium battery and 30A DC-DC charger. The VitriFrigo fridge / freezer works a treat as does everything else on the battery including ALL our 240volt (on inverter) stuff. Cannot remember last time we used EHU as park up use...
However... if you really will miss that air fryer and like myself need to take your hair straightener and John Corby trouser press on holiday or like @Drive Wayne your SDS drill then adding a 2kw inverter gives you 230Vac as well as 12Vdc.
I've gone for Renogy gear as it's cheaper in general...
Yeah, I can see that. And who wants to be on a campsite surrounded by vehicles sitting there idling away just so they can use their 240v mod cons the next day…
Good work, how are you getting on with it?
Did you wire the 20A charger to your EHU so that it starts charging as soon as ehu is connected?
I’m considering a similar setup.
100ah lithium, Renogy 30a DC-DC mppt, and some kind of inverter (1500w?) that will run a nespresso (1200w).
Vs an...
The last few days I’ve updated the electrics in our van, installed a second 100 ah lithium battery, bus bars, remote controlled 1500 watt inverter, fused all positive leads and a battery isolation switch.
I’ve also paneled the sides of our van king bed and covered with stretch carpet.
Im waiting...
Final test numbers are in . . .
+++++++++++++++
i shut off the test at 12% because that's low enough for me. . . and running lithium's very low is not great for there health.
so 100% to 12% in a day and a half - exactly as the numbers and estimate worked out.
this box will drain itself...
I don’t currently have solar and to be honest 230Ah lithium will likely last me any normal trip I do with no charging. I don’t have an inverter so basically my draw is minimal. Fridge, lights, heater, phone charging. Usual stuff. This will be to charge it at home before trips. If my missus is...
I have checked my SB fuse and it is a 50 amp and also my LB is 50amp so I will have to change them for 60 amp.
I can’t get the setting up that you are showing with lithium battery showing.
I’ve boiled a kettle off my inverter, put my headlights and spot lights on full switched the heater to...
Yeh. But it depends on your power source running the inverter.
Have you got enough power to run the inverter for the time needed?
We run a Roamer 230ah lithium battery, on a Renogy 1000w inverter, and recharge from a 50A Renogy dc-dc charger, and have 400w mobile solar during summer.
Simple answer is yes.
A 1000w inverter will pull 80-100A under full load.
That your AGM will be able to handle for short durations.
So seeing as you say you will only use low wattage loads, and that you plan to upgrade to lithium is say you are good to go.

Hello all,
I am working up courage to swap split charge relay with a Victron DC to DC and Ablemail 12-2.
I only currently have a 75 sized leisure battery. So was thinking of changing that too for a bigger capacity.
This is all under driver seat (impacted by diesel heater dusting).
I have...
Hello all,
Complete beginner here. I recently started converting my 2012 T5.1 SWB Highline into a camper. I’ve started at the front so the van is ripped to bits all summer and we can use it as a day van. Realistically still have no idea how we will end up using the van or what our final layout...
My tv works on both 12v and 240 on EHU.
So the inverter would only give me power to plug external things into?
Which would still be really handy. So would still be nice to have and install when I’m upgrading everything else. I could take my ps5 away :D
So what are the main components that I...
Why Roamer and Victron?
Our batteries have always worked well with Victron chargers and inverters but the new SMART4 plug-and-play Victron communication makes this integration even better. Simply link your SMART4 battery bank to a Victron GX device (eg Cerbo GX or Ekrano GX) and all internal...
we are looking for a Portable Induction Hob. . .
we have the Cadac and Jetboil etc etc . . . . which are all great.
but looking for a new use case. . . this time touring.
we have 240v Microwave, kettle, coffee machine that run off the Victron 3kw inverter and 460ah lithium. - so should have...
It all depends on how clever the battery is. Some batteries have all the magicary built in, so they monitor their own State Of Charge (SOC) and you read this via an app & Bluetooth. Other batteries are dumb & need managing externally via a 3rd party device, e.g. a shunt. So the answer is… it...
