Hugely helpful, thank you. Did you fit ply to the seat base innards to use to attach all your gubbins to? Did you use existing holes or make your own? Your setup is exactly what I want.
got a few pics of you kit, battery and install?
and a few screenshots of your victron APP and settings for the mppt and Orion?
pics say 1000 words, and will help to answer some of the below.
assumptions:
you have a victron smart MPPT?
you have a Victr OrionDC-DC?
you dont have an IGN...
I’ve started to install my power upgrade and thought I would post a thread on it which might be useful for others thinking of upgrading to lithium.
I would like to point out that I am far from an expert on this and as much as I am capable of doing the installation I am totally reliant on the...
For DC-DC chargers @Dellmassive has tried most of them and there is a lot of information on this thread - worth a cup of coffee/tea and going through:
https://www.t6forum.com/threads/guide-dc-dc-charger-for-leisure-battery-how-i-done-it.15066/page-24#post-598181
I'd start by looking at the...
Hi,
I do not, I have the VictronOrion DC to DC charger that I use as the B2B to charge my leisure battery from the alternator. The Sterling battery maintainer is used as a B2B from the Leisure battery to the Starter battery.
The new Sterling B2B look good, because all my other kit is Victron...
Thanks so much for the tips. I was thinking of getting built in heaters like you suggested but is the extra cost really worth it? My logic is if you van is stored you wouldn't want to be charging the lithium service battery from solar anyway. If the van is in use, the temperature of our van...
I am planning on going up into the scottish highlands so my worry with installing a switch is that I forgot to turn it off and drain my van battery and I end up stuck in the middle of nowhere with no phone signal. If I wanted it to automatically charge and stop charging when I stop driving, is...
One drawback is you will also need to fit a DC-DC charger to replace your split charger (assuming my memory from earlier in the thread is correct!) and you may need to replace some cabling depending on what you have already and what the new DC-DC needs.
Otherwise it’s an awesome upgrade and...
I don't believe there is a specific thread on this topic, although I believe some Forum members have a similar setup. @Dellmassive?
We have a dayvan with a 115Ah AGM leisure battery which typically lasts 2 days, powering compressor fridge, lights, charging devices. However, we usually opt for...
I'm running the VictronOrion XS DC-DC charger on both vans now.. (with the 230ah seat base battery)
I normally set the current limiter to 30A to keep the temps down.
Last week though we had a long camping trip and run the battery flat, well down to 6%. And had a 2.5hr drive to the next...
I hadn't seen that Sterling one before - that vibration sensing idea seems pretty clever in theory, if they've nailed the implementation it would probably be more accurate than an ignition feed, although the D+ is obviously the ideal solution. The bidirectional feature seems like a good idea to...
Not today, but I installed a VictronOrionDC-DC charger to replace my Ablemail charger this week.
Nothing wrong with the Ablemail, but I fancied Bluetooth connectivity, and it aligns with the other Victron devices in the van.
The Ablemail will be for sale at a good price shortly ;)
Pete
no solar on the van, but i do have a 160w panel for it, but ill wait till i get a poptop fitted.
in the meantime we just use mobile solar - which works fine.
when i do fit it, it will be the 160w panel + any mobile into a Victron MPPT feeding into the MIDI SUB main fuse panel...
I use the Renogy dc50s for dc-dc charging, with a lithium. (, With the app)
And even though it does solar, that splits the power 50/50 when you add a solar connection.
I use a seperate Victron mppt. As they are the best when used with the app.
I had the Orion, but sold it on, preferring to...
Just leave it as is. Assuming you’re using the correct charging profile on the Orion, once the battery is fully charged, the Orion will go into “float” mode.
Any of you guys want to just install this all for me ?
😂😂😂
I thought it would be a simple job! 😂😂
Right so I’ve digested all of the above info from you guys and I can’t thank you enough!!! Worth its weight in gold!
So I’ve done a couple of sketches ( sorry)
And hoping this may make some...
I am trying to find an optimal DC-DC charger for my current set up/future set up, so I am reading a lot of post and trying understand.
I have a question, any reason to use Regony with MPPT and then use a seperate MPPT. Why dont use Regony DC-DC without MPPT (they are cheaper) then add MPPT...
Evening all,
Completely new to converting a van, so just wanted to ask a few questions please.
I'm converting my T6 van and looking at the forums and online shops I'm leaning towards the victron setup.
The main thing I would like to have is the battery sited mid/end van, rather than under the...
